Plans for the new permanent steel roof structure over the existing main stage at the Selo Ukraina site are one step closer to completion with assistance from the Government of Canada.
On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Robert Sopuck, Member of Parliament (Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette) announced today that through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund $151,700 has been contributed toward the project.
Dauphin’s Countryfest and site owners the Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre and Museum announced plans last November to build the permanent roof as an enhancement to the festival main stage. The roof was a proactive approach to enhance safety, improve sound and stage lighting, and reduce costs on an ongoing basis.
“This stage project will enhance our ability to attract A-List performers and events to the community throughout the year and in turn strengthen our local economy.” Says Ross McAuley, Vice President of Dauphin’s Countryfest. “It will also put us ahead of the curve when it comes to safety in outdoor events.”
Countryfest and Selo Ukraina are confident there are a number of user groups and organizations, such as Canada\'s National Ukrainian Festival, that will benefit from this new project.
