Dauphin's Countryfest has learned that Sugarland is unable to perform at the 2012 festival and with a quick turnaround, Reba - the Queen of Country- has been secured as the Sunday headliner.
“Scheduling conflicts due to TV obligations” is the explanation Sugarland representatives have confirmed that forced the duo to cancel their performance on July 1st as well as a number of other dates around this time.
Countryfest representatives were deflated to learn of this cancellation; however it opened up the perfect opportunity to acquire the #1 female Country touring artist for her first-ever performance at Dauphin’s Countryfest.
“We feel great about Reba!” says Rob Waloschuk, Countryfest Promoter. “We agree the cancellation is definitely not ideal, but we’ve never had Reba on our stage and we’re more than excited to announce she will be in Dauphin.”
Few would argue the fact that Reba is the right fit for this specific change in line up. One of the most successful entertainers, she has sold over 56 million albums worldwide. As a leading lady in the genre, the multi-platinum recording artist was recently inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and earned an ACM Career Achievement honor. She has won 15 American Music Awards; 13 ACM Awards; 9 People’s Choice Awards; 6 CMA Awards and 2 GRAMMY Awards. Reba’s reign of #1 hits spans four decades and she is recognized as the biggest female hit-maker in Country music history. The multimedia superstar earned her 64th Top 10 hit and her 35th #1 with the lead single, “Turn On The Radio,” from her current album, ALL THE WOMEN I AM.
During her recent ALL THE WOMEN I AM tour, both Pollstar and Billboard’s Boxscore – the touring industry’s leading trade outlets – named Reba the #1 female Country touring artist, selling a combined total of over 9 million tickets.
“Reba is a class act. What more can you say?” President of Countryfest, Eric Irwin stated. “The show must go on. When something out of our control like this happens, we waste no time in finding an equal, if not better alternative. I believe we have done just that.”
