Countryfest Gates Opening @ 2pm ~ Wednesday, June 30, 2010
|
POSTED June 8, 2010
|
Countryfest has always put a priority on patron safety and comfort and we've done our best to make sure the vehicle line-up, once the gate opens, moves efficiently. Manitoba Highways and the RCMP have advised that vehicles parked on the highway shoulder prior to the gate opening create an unsafe situation and they will be more strict with their rules this year. PLEASE NOTE: At the direction of Manitoba Highways and the RCMP, we are now asking you to respect the following rules:
- We are opening the gate earlier, however we don't want you lining up earlier. We are doing this to alleviate the line up on the highway.
- Make sure your camping stickers are on your vehicle and camper before arriving at Countryfest to ensure a faster movement of the line up.
- Pick up your tickets before getting to the event at the Countryfest office in Dauphin (#28 - 2nd Ave NE) prior to June 24th.
- Stay in your vehicle. The RCMP will ticket and no one wants to start Countryfest with a fine.
- Remember that open liquor is also illegal and you will be fined and/or refused entry to Countryfest.
- Be ready to move. Vehicles unattended AT ANY TIME may be towed without notice and at the expense of the owner.
- Respect the fact that not everyone is headed to Countryfest. Other people are using the highway.
We're looking forward to seeing you at Countryfest 2010!

Countryfest Loses a Family Member

POSTED May 3, 2010

The Countryfest family and the entire music community lost a great friend on April 27th, 2010. Neil Peterson, Vice President of Dauphin's Countryfest passed away suddenly at the age of 55. He was a champion of authentic, inspirational music and the artists who play and produce it and did his best to promote their careers.
Neil was born and raised in Saskatoon where he attended Law School. He came to Dauphin in 1977 where he practiced law since 1981 as a respected senior crown attorney, until his retirement on his 55th birthday, July 9th, 2009.
He shared his love of music with all of us by joining the Board of Dauphin’s Countryfest in 1991 and helped to produce 18 festivals and many other events. He became Vice-President and Programming Director in 2001 and produced a unique festival, combining country with roots, blues and alternative music.
He leaves to mourn his passing his daughters Laura and Lindsey, partner Karen Ellison and her children Lauren and Evan, his sister Dawn and children Simon and Claire.
In Neil’s memory, we at Dauphin’s Countryfest will continue to produce the best music that we can.
Donations in Neil’s memory may be made to the Neil Peterson Music Education Fund c/o The Dauphin & District Community Foundation at Box 6 Dauphin, M.B, R7N 2T9.
